2024 Summer... So Far

I feel like I don’t flood you all with enough information. It’s summer time… let’s get into it.

Let’s be transparent. As you may know, I’m currently unemployed BUT continue developing and creating new written work. I’ve got a new drama pilot, deck, thriller feature and hopefully a new comedy (I know, look at me). Nevertheless, searching for new positions in the industry have led me to take odd jobs:

  • driving a 16 passenger van for a Bachelorette party

  • being a game show contestant

  • selling limited edition BET clothing at the BET Experience.

Yes, I’m searching for receptionist positions, part time gigs, assistant openings and restaurant work. I’m either overqualified, underqualified, or the company is going through a hiring freeze. Trust me, during this weird time a lot of my scenes are written in real time and much of my dialogue is real life. Of course the names, dates and times have been changed to protect the…. simply put, I’ve been writing about it. It’s frustrating but I continue to push myself to stay encouraged.

All that to say, I’ve gotten back to my roots in the church. I joined Voices of Faith at Faithful Central Church. Started volunteering at a local neighborhood church prepping food to feed the homeless. Also I started taking free surfing classes with the Black Surf Collective this summer. This is in addition to playing with my dodgeball team I Love Butts. This is in addition to attending film festivals for: WORTH IT and now “SAVING ALL MY LOVE.”

I’m so incredibly lucky to have two shorts still going through the film festival circuit. I am honored, grateful and thankful. Hanging with my writer friends, speaking at panels, attending birthdays, celebrating my friends, and starting my own fun, crazy IG page called “White Robe Stories“ where I tell all the crazy stories about my life so far. I wake up and tell God, “I surrender, whatever you have for me… let’s go.
